Birth centers, or Geburtshäuser in German, are midwife-led locations for birth. This means that midwives are the primary and exclusive care givers during birth. The birth centers in Munich provide a calm and intimate atmosphere for birth with the reassuring presence of compassionate midwives. They are a great option for parents planning a birth without or with minimal interventions.
Both birth centers in Munich are located very centrally in the city and are in reach of clinics within minutes in case of emergency. This is still very rare because the birth centers can only support births with minimal signs of possible complications.
Learn more about these birth centers and midwifery care in Germany in my online mini course “Birthing in Munich,” coming soon in the Fall 2021! Contact me to be informed as soon as the course is available.
