Services for Postpartum

Adjusting to life with a newborn can be a profound, sometimes overwhelming experience, and support can make all the difference. Whether or not we’ve worked together during pregnancy or birth, it’s never too late to get the help of a doula!

My postpartum support takes the form of either online sessions or in-home visits. During this time, I will hold space for you, helping you identify and address your needs. This time and space is for anything you like - but if you are unsure, you can read about a few ideas below.

Processing Your
Birth Experience

Whether empowering, challenging, or even traumatic - how you feel about your birth experience can deeply impact your postpartum, breastfeeding, and approach to parenting. Unfortunately, 1 in 3 parents describe their birth as traumatic, with 5-8% experiencing clinical symptoms of PTSD. With training in supporting parents after difficult births, my approach is trauma-informed, providing a safe space to process what happened and helping you find clarity and emotional grounding. If needed, I can assist in requesting medical records or a birth report from the clinic.

Baby Handling
& Hygiene

Learning the basics of baby care can feel like a big adjustment. In this session, I’ll guide you through practical skills like changing baby’s clothes with ease, selecting outfits suited to the weather, and exploring different diapering options, from organic disposables to cloth diapers. I’ll also demonstrate ways to hold your baby for comfort during crying and colic, and I can support you as you give your baby their first bath, introducing gentle skincare routines and soothing massage techniques that make these early care moments feel natural and enjoyable.

babywearing

Babywearing - Slings, Wraps, & Carriers

Carrying your baby promotes bonding and the release of oxytocin, helping your baby feel calm and secure. Together, we’ll find the product that fits both your needs and body type, so you can carry your baby with ease and joy. I’ll teach you how to wear your baby so it is both safe and supportive of their growing body and comfortable for you. If desired, I can share tips on breastfeeding while babywearing. And if you have been babywearing for a while and are interested in learning new carrying options - such as back carrying - as your baby grows, you can book this session with me later on as well.

breastfeeding

Breastfeeding & Lactation

In this session, we’ll explore the physiological aspects of breastfeeding, including how hormones like oxytocin influence your supply, are released best when you feel relaxed, and help you to bond with your baby. I’ll provide encouragement and help normalize common struggles, offering practical guidance on latch, positioning, and understanding your baby’s growth. Together, we’ll address any challenges and build your confidence. If specialized support is needed, I can connect you with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), ensuring you feel empowered and well-supported in your breastfeeding journey.

postpartum stride

Finding Your Stride Postpartum

Postpartum can be extremely demanding, with emotions running high as you navigate meeting both your baby’s needs and your own. Many parents experience a profound, intense love like never before - bringing a new sense of responsibility and even anxiety. In this session, we’ll create a personalized plan that helps you feel more at ease. We’ll cover essentials like rest, nutrition, meal planning, and activating support networks, along with strategies for understanding and communicating boundaries in self-awareness, self-care, and self-love - helping you feel balanced and resilient, so you have more to give to your baby.

Venturing Beyond with Baby

It’s not easy getting out of the house with a newborn! In this hands-on session, I’ll help you pack the diaper bag, practice babywearing, and get comfortable with essentials like loading the car or using public transportation with a stroller. Together, we’ll establish routines and identify what you need to feel prepared, so outings with your baby become manageable and enjoyable. This is great for attending your first mommy & baby support group or going shopping for clothes that make you feel great after birth!
